I usually fail when I try to beg you for further details, but would you explain me better what you mean by 'I', 'ego'and why is the Black Swan a related topic (apart from the fact that it regards planning about the future and its shortcomings)?elisa freschihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17068583874519657894noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6641738716446631837.post-70381128576521703302010-08-14T12:52:04.885+02:002010-08-14T12:52:04.885+02:00I think that the argument holds true for two diffe...I think that the argument holds true for two different mindsets. People who do not identify the 'I' with the ego would not talk much about looking into the future. On the other hand, when the 'I' defines the ego, then planning and anticipating the future would be very essential.

An interesting related recent text:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_swan_theoryVSnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6641738716446631837.post-7356923481841106482010-08-10T06:54:36.322+02:002010-08-10T06:54:36.322+02:00Why oddly:

I think that it is an acceptable concept holding together the diachronic in the form of the general context of the person, character and so on as well as the synchronic which is the actual constellation of elements in the person at any one time classically at the time of death.michael reidynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6641738716446631837.post-59270898821617246072010-08-09T15:39:35.126+02:002010-08-09T15:39:35.126+02:00Why "oddily" enough? I see it in your way, but maybe this is not the only one and even common people may istinctively argue for a non-ownership view of 'their' emotions –odd as it may seem to me.elisa freschihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17068583874519657894noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6641738716446631837.post-23742177703247339632010-08-07T01:25:04.613+02:002010-08-07T01:25:04.613+02:00Oddly enough I think the concept of soul is useful...Oddly enough I think the concept of soul is useful in these discussions. The Jiva/individual person has a certain style, a certain way of capturing his world. He makes his world. There is an overarching context to his experience. Vasanas and samskaras are spoken of by the yogis and the Sankhyas offer the influential notion of the Gunas. You have the 4 Humours or of the mediaevals and the doshas of ayuraveda. All this stuff you can work on in the sense that this world is a vale of soulmaking.
Now the continuous thing is the very stuff itself, pure consciousness of which the mental modifications are 'made'. Cittavritti nirodha is the aim of yoga.michael reidynoreply@blogger.com
